There were a number of Belvedere teams in action over the weekend:

Our Senior 1st XV had a comprehensive victory away to St Michael’s. They showed style and panache to run out comfortable 29-0 winners. The Senior 2nd XV were extremely disappointed to lose a closely fought encounter to the same opponents but will take great pride in their display

Our Junior 1st XV and 2nd XV had an early start as they traveled to Belfast to take on Methody. The games were played in fine conditions and lessons were learnt but unfortunately both teams came up short against two Methody teams who were perhaps a little further down the track at this stage of the season.

There was a similar story in Belfast against Methody for our U14 A team who although went down 22-0 were happy enough for their first match of the season as their opponents had a number of games under their belt. They were also unlucky in having a number of scores disallowed which would have seen a closer scoreline. It was a positive experience with the players taking on board the areas needed to be worked on for the season ahead. Their U14B colleagues had a superb 29-5 win and a number of their players put their hand up for selection on the A team for the next match. As the coaches outlined, there is no real A or B team at this stage of the season so every game counts with a number of lads fronting up and taking their chance to shine.

The TY team controlled a keenly contested game for most of the match against Castleknock College but were disappointed to concede a late try that ended up clinching a 12-12 draw for the home team. With a number of fine players in their ranks, this TY team has set high standards for themselves this year and will be looking to add more silverware to their collection by the years end.
