The U14’s A,B,C welcomed St Michaels College to Cabra this afternoon. In three keenly contested battles, Belvedere emerged victorious in two of the encounters.

The A side remained unbeaten at home with a very impressive 5 try victory over their opponents. They played with a precision and composure that is extremely encouraging looking to the future. In their last 2 games v Clongowes and today against St Michaels they haven’t conceded a single point with excellent defending laying the foundation for strong running and clever play going forward. They finished up with a 35-0 victory.

The B side were unlucky to go down 14-10. After being the better side for the first half, they were only 5-0 up at half time. They then faced into a very stiff breeze and up the hill. A fired up St Michaels scored 2 quick tries not long into the second half to take the lead. Although Belvedere finished stronger and scored the last try of the game they could not overtake their opponents and St Michaels held out for the win.

The C team kept up their excellent start to the season with a highly impressive 50-10 victory. They dominated from start to finished and in extremely cold conditions, they played with skill and conviction to stamp their authority on the game. The effort they’ve put in in training came to fruition and they ran out easy winners in the end.

Many thanks to all the students from both schools for their efforts, the coaches for their hard work and the parents for their support!
